The Film Academy presents its Gold Medal to Gutiérrez Aragón
The event was attended by, in addition to the Secretary of State for Culture, José María Lasalle and the General Director of the ICAA, Susana de la Sierra, professional colleagues and numerous friends.
The director, screenwriter and writer Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón received the Gold Medal awarded by the Film Academy last night at the Madrid Casino, in an event led by Ángela Molina and Luis Tosar, and where the president of the institution, Enrique González Macho, he presented him with the award.
The event was attended by, in addition to the Secretary of State for Culture, José María Lasalle and the General Director of the ICAA, Susana de la Sierra, colleagues and friends such as Ana Belén, Ana de Armas, Ángeles González-Sinde, Carmen Alborch, Carlos Iglesias , Eduardo Campoy, Emilio Martínez-Lázaro, Enrique Cerezo, Gerardo Herrero, Gracia Querejeta, Imanol Uribe, Jose Coronado, José Luis Cuerda, José Sacristán, José Sancho, Juan Diego, Mabel Lozano, Víctor Clavijo, Víctor Manuel and Vladimir Cruz, among Many others.
Gutiérrez Aragón is one of the most versatile professionals in our cinema, having directed 17 films and written 28 scripts, in addition to directing opera and theater. In addition, he has won the most important awards in his profession, from the Berlin Silver Bear to the San Sebastian Silver Shell. He was even an Oscar finalist with his first feature film (Mute speech, 1973).
Since 2007, when he directed his last film (We are all invited) is dedicated to writing and has just published his second novel, Glory My Life (Anagrama) although he does not rule out returning to the cinema although, as he himself admits "never say never again, although with the deadlines that exist now to direct a film, of more than a year, I see it as complicated."
