The version of the famous story of Snow White by Pablo Berger, selected to represent Spain at the Oscars, has been filmed in 16 mm with digital support from the Canon 5D and the GoPro. The film has been scanned and post-produced at 2K in a 1.85 aspect ratio with 4:3 catch.

Mistika has already been used since the camera tests, where the look that the film would have was sought. Once shot and assembled, in post-production at Imasblue, all the VFX shots, more than 500, were created in Mistika for checking and distribution of the scanned material to the different post-production areas.

Before the supervision and approval of the effects, they were reshaped in Imasblue using Mistika and, after carrying out layered VFX pre-grading to integrate these effects based on the characteristic look of the film, the director checked the final result, applying a lut that would give an appearance similar to what the final result would have.

Ferrán Piquer, visual effects supervisor at Imasblue, acknowledges that “thanks to Mistika we were able to accelerate deliveries to the laboratory for the final shaping of the film, since the workflow of the SGO system is incredibly agile, allowing final adjustments to be made. of the shots made on different platforms without having to return them to VFX.”

Snow White, by Pablo Berger, in a silent version and in black and white, is based on the classic tale by the Brothers Grimm. It takes us to Spain in the 1920s in a bullfighting environment. The film stars Maribel Verdú as the evil stepmother, Daniel Giménez Cacho as her father, and Snow White played as a child by Sofia Oria and as a teenager by Macarena García.
