Telecast launches Cobra 2DT fiber link for new Sony triaxial HD cameras
Cobra 2DT is designed for situations in which transmission between camera-CCU is impossible using copper cable due to long distances.
Telecast Fiber Systems has launched Cobra 2DT, a fiber optic link for Sony's new triaxial HD camera chains.
Like the rest of the Cobra line of triax-to-fiber extension systems, the new Cobra 2DT will allow Sony HXC-100K and HSC-300K users connectivity between the camera and the CCU, even over long distances over fiber optics.
Jim Hurwitz, director of product management and MKT at Telecast, highlights that “until now, the technique, even in high-definition digital cameras, has relied on analog transmissions for communication between the camera and its CCU, but Sony has broken new ground by introducing digital triaxial systems to the industry for the first time. These higher quality, lower cost ones are aimed at high definition cameras and are receiving tremendous reception by the professional video production community. Our new Cobra 2DT takes Sony's new camera chains a step further by allowing broadcasters to connect the camera to their CCU via lightweight, low-cost fiber, whether a single cable or a fiber infrastructure installed in a sports stadium or other place.”
Cobra 2DT is thus designed for situations in which transmission between camera-CCU is impossible using copper cable due to long distances.
Like the rest of the Cobra family, Cobra 2DT converts triaxial camera signals for transport over fiber optics in direct cables or pre-wired installations. The 2DT Cobra, together with the Sony HXC-100K and 300K-HSC cameras, allows bidirectional transport of the component video program, return video and genlock, audio, intercom, and IFB, as well as camera and tally control data.
The Cobra 2DT is available in a compact, robust and weather-resistant design within its housing.
The base unit of the Cobra 2DT is powered from the CCU, while the unit installed next to the camera is powered by a 100-240 VAC adapter. Two base units can be configured in a 1 RU rack. The system supports ST, OpticalCON or MX type connectors.
