These Goyas have been Enrique González Macho's first awards after assuming the presidency of the Academy on April 10, 2011.

On April 10, 2011, after the departure of Álex de la Iglesia, the producer, distributor and exhibitor Enrique González Macho (Santander, Cantabria, 1947) assumed the reins of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain

These Goya have been, therefore, his first awards as president of the institution, confessing to Panorama Audiovisual that "I never imagined it would be so much hassle and involve so much work. A job that is more than rewarding when you see the entire industry united in a unique night."

Asked if the moment at the box office that Spanish cinema is going through in recent months corresponds to the quality of the great Goya nominees, González Macho stated that this year "as nominees for best film we have had four very different productions, each one with many virtues." "It is curious to see how the film industry goes from great joy to great depression. It is a difficult, complicated industry, requiring a lot of effort. When the box office gratifies you... you feel it much more, but when it penalizes you... it happens the same. On many occasions, you go from one extreme to the other even though it is not the most convenient or logical."

Regarding the technological evolution that the industry is going through in Spain, Enrique González-Macho does not believe that it is reinventing itself "in reality, it is adapting to new situations and it is the one hundred that has been invented even though there are innovations...".

The president of the Academy has assured Panorama Audiovisual that "digitization has a good and a bad side, like all innovations. The good thing is that it will be seen with better quality and, in addition, it will mean more diversity of content. But the most negative aspect is that it is not yet fully developed, so the cost of display is brutal."

As far as distribution is concerned, according to González Macho “it remains to be seen whether Spanish cinema will benefit from digital distribution.”
