CCTV incorporates a Quantel Enterprise sQ in its new 3D channel
CCTV has opted for Quantel technology with an Enterprise sQ, a system that allows the ingestion, editing and output of stereoscopic material with full integration with the 3D workflow.
Public broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) has invested in a Quantel Enterprise sQ system as a key element for its new 3D stereoscopic channel.
The system allows the ingestion, editing and output of stereoscopic material with full integration with the 3D workflow.
JianWei Cui, director of CCTV, commented that “the system presents a large set of editing tools and effects that allows us to carry out all editing tasks without having to switch between different applications.
For her part, Wang Shanna, head of post-production at the Chinese broadcaster, added that “the Geofix functionality in the editing software allows editors to quickly correct problems in 3D to see an immediate result, proving to be unique.” .
China's first 3D television channel began test broadcasts earlier this year. The channel is operated by CCTV and five other television stations in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Shenzhen.
The channel broadcasts a total of 13.5 hours daily from 10 in the morning to 12 at night. A total of four and a half hours are new programming, while the rest are rebroadcasts. The channel will be formally launched during the upcoming Spring Festival or Chinese Lunar New Year, which begins on January 23.
