The BOE publishes the appointment of the Secretary of State for Telecommunications
The BOE publishes the appointment of Víctor Calvo-Sotelo Ibáñez-Martín as Secretary of State; Enrique Hernández Bento, as undersecretary of the ministry; and José María Jover Gómez-Ferrer, as technical general secretary.
As Panorama Audiovisual announced on February 28, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo has finally been appointed Secretary of State for Telecommunications.
The Official State Gazette (BOE) has published this Saturday, with regard to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, the appointment as Secretary of State for Energy of Fernando Martí Scharfhausen; Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo Ibáñez-Martín; Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel María Borrego Cortés; undersecretary of the ministry, Enrique Hernández Bento; technical general secretary, José María Jover Gómez-Ferrer; and director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism to María Rodríguez de la Rúa Beristain.
For the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, the Executive has appointed Fernando Bouza Sáiz to the position of undersecretary of this department.
For the Presidency of the Government, the BOE publishes the appointment of the deputy director of the Presidency Cabinet, which corresponds to Alfonso de Senillosa Ramoneda; general secretary of the Presidency of the Government, María Rosario Pablos López; and coordinator for matters related to the Presidency of the Government to Valle Ordóñez Carvajal.
The Government has also confirmed the appointment of the Undersecretary of the Presidency, Jaime Pérez Renovales; the director of the Cabinet of the vice president of the Government, María González Pico; and the vice president's deputy cabinet director, Edelmira Barreira Diz.
Victor Calvo-Sotelo
Son of former President Calvo-Sotelo, the new Secretary of State for Telecommunications was born in Madrid in 1961, and was Undersecretary of the Ministry of Development between 1996 and 2000, during the first government of José María Aznar, with Rafael Arias Salgado being Minister of Development. , and between 2003 and 2004 he presided over the state-owned company Correos. Previously, between 2001 and 2003 he moved to the private sector, holding the presidency of Quiero Televisión and the vice-presidency of the Auna foundation.
Representative to Congress for Zamora, Calvo-Sotelo is a civil engineer, MBA in business management from Insead, and has also worked as a professor at UCLA.
