The 3D Community Day, promoted by Techex and Autodesk, served one more year to learn about recent and future works that artists, animators, experts in special effects,... have been developed with Autodesk tools.

The Sala Faena in Madrid hosted this Thursday one of the most important events for the community of post-production professionals of the year. The 3D Community Day, powered by Techex and Autodesk, served one more year to learn about recent and future works that artists, animators, experts in special effects,... have been developed with Autodesk tools.

This year the 3D Community Day 2012 has been sponsored by companies such as Azken Muga, specialized in advanced computing and professional graphic visualization and specialist in graphic stations; PNY/Nvidia, maker of powerful Quadro professional graphics cards; the CICE Professional School of New Technologies, (Autodesk Training Center); and Chaos Group, developer of the V-Ray render engines.

Last night was a good opportunity to learn what the new Maximus certification developed by Nvidia will offer. This certification, which will be available to all computers with Tesla cores and NVidia Quadro GPUs, will offer the guarantee of achieving significant improvements over other equipment with the advantage of having design and simulation in a single system.

The key is in NVidia Tesla, a family of products that are actually general-purpose GPUs. Its purpose is to support the CPU when it needs it, taking advantage of the fact that it is a high-performance processing unit in certain types of operations.

As we could see in the demos of the D Community Day, this technology will benefit, among other complex processes, real-time simulations with Maya with real calculations of fluids on objects.

One of the most remarkable success stories of all those we were able to see last night is the work The Accuracy of Time in which Quique Molina and Javier Martínez have masterfully recreated an Omega watch using the tools offered by V-Ray and 3ds Max.

The night closed with the presentation that David Heras, Charly Pujol, Javier M. Pacín and Rubén Villoria of User T38 have developed for the film Intruders relying on Autodesk Smoke.
