Graphic display on election day of the Spanish legislative elections
Two of the leading companies in real-time graphic solutions, wTVision and Brainstorm Multimedia, have provided their services to numerous broadcasters on last Sunday's election night, providing spectacular special programs as the results progressed.
Election nights are always an excellent opportunity for the different networks to surprise their audience with a great graphic display that presents the viewer with the exit polls and results as they become known. The electoral appointment last Sunday with the legislative elections in Spain could not be less.
wTVision developed graphic projects for four Spanish television channels: TV de Galicia, Aragón TV, LaSexta and 8TV. The technologies used included full screen graphics, tickers, virtual scenery and augmented reality.
TV de Galicia was based on augmented reality which, in conjunction with full-screen graphics and the ticker, allowed the presentation of the results in various formats. The graphics presented through augmented reality were conceived using a platform of Run for this effect.
Aragón TV opted for a virtual setting for its election night and also used full-screen graphics and tickers. To do this, wTVision integrated Brainstorm technology to create the virtual scenery, Vizrt for the full screen scenes and INCA for the ticker. wTVision also designed the graphic scenes, header, backgrounds and logo for its special election night.
LaSexta and 8TV used a complete graphics solution, presenting graphics ranging from the number of elected deputies to the percentages obtained by the parties, allowing viewers to be given complete information on the electoral results. These projects were developed from an Orad platform.
In the end, Antonio Ferreras, director of the LaSexta network, commented: “this is how we like it, continuous data monitoring and heating up the political panorama.” In the words of César González, director of News and Sports at LaSexta: “I don't know how you do it but the data was faster than that of the ministry's website, congratulations on the work, we are very happy!”
Another novelty present was the implementation of a data management center at the wTVision headquarters, ensuring the reliability of the system and allowing error-free transmission.
Elections CG by wTVision is a highly customizable software that responds to all the graphics needs of an election special program, integrating data in real time, with the latest technologies.
Another company that offered advanced graphic solutions to networks was Brainstorm Multimedia.
Antena 3 once again chose Brainstorm Multimedia products and services for the development and broadcast of its graphics in real time during election day. Antena 3 worked throughout the election day with Brainstorm software to illustrate electoral participation, trends and final results using interactive maps, chambers and much more.
On this occasion of early general elections, Brainstorm had the pleasure of making history by delivering the counting data for Antena 3 ahead of Spanish Television, as had never happened before. Brainstorm's Production Director, Mónica Victor, stated the same night of November 20: “Antena 3 has been delivering data ahead of the Spanish company (they had never done so). The team has been incredible, what more could you ask for?”
The project developed by Brainstorm for the Antena 3 elections included development, creation of graphics and data downloading through the Ministry of the Interior, always in real time. All graphics were released and updated with one of the company's key products, Brainstorm OnDemand along with the Brainstorm eStudio graphics engine. Downloading and updating data allowed presenters to instantly update information and the ability to interact live as well as visualize changes occurring in real time.
The production work carried out by Brainstorm accumulates extensive experience in many areas of graphics production for news, weather, sports... always offering personalized graphics for the coverage of the project proposed by the client.
