Televisa could start producing fiction in Spain with CBM
In line with its strategy to exit the LaSexta shareholding, Televisa would have reached an agreement with Central Broadcaster Media (CBM), a company of the Secuoya Group, to collaborate in the production and distribution of fiction content in the Spanish market.
Immersed in a process of divestment in LaSexta, Televisa would be willing to continue in the Spanish market but with new partners. According to The Confidential From market sources, the Mexican giant would have reached an agreement with Central Broadcaster Media (CBM), a company of the Secuoya Group, to collaborate in the production and distribution of fiction content. A step forward that would allow it to sell spaces to other national networks, such as Telecinco and Antena 3, and put more pressure on the network owned by Jaume Roures.
"Until now they had only put money in. Now they want to direct a project in Spain," some sources familiar with the agreement explained to El Confidencial. Not in vain has the Mexican group left more than 250 million euros in LaSexta in six years, without its percentage in the chain having allowed it to weigh in on decision-making. CBM, the traveling companion chosen by Emilio Azcárraga Jean, already provides services to networks such as Antena 3 and Telemadrid. Also to production companies such as Cuarzo or Magnolia, to which it mainly provides infrastructure and post-production services.
The company constitutes one of the branches of Secuoya, a conglomerate led by Raúl Berdonés in an environment very close to Maurizio Carlotti, vice president of the Planeta chain.
