JVC announces its first Full HD 3D camera for the consumer market. The new GS-TD1, integrated into the HD Everio range, obtains Full HD in 3D thanks to a double lens structure. A second model, the GZ-HM960, will provide 3D images, in this case based on a 2D to 3D conversion function.

Every day it becomes more evident that stereoscopy is not a preserve of professionals, since new 3D solutions are appearing every day in both consumer and prosumer markets. Now, JVC just announced its first Full HD 3D camera for the consumer market. The new GS-TD1, integrated into the HD Everio range, obtains Full HD thanks to a double lens structure. A second model, the GZ-HM960, will provide 3D images, in this case based on a 2D to 3D conversion function. Both models will be launched on the market next March.

The GS-TD1 uses two lenses and two 3.32 megapixel CMOS sensors (one for each optic), thus capturing three-dimensional Full HD images that the Falconbrid image processing engine processes simultaneously for the right and left eye at 1920x1080i.

The LRIndependet Formart technology makes this unit, according to JVC, the first consumer-oriented camcorder capable of recording 3D in Full HD.

JVC's new camcorder uses dual high-resolution GT lenses that employ extra-low dispersion glass offering sharp, high-contrast images, as well as multiple aspherical lenses for fine image reproduction.

Other points to highlight are the 5x 3D optical zoom as well as its automatic axis and parallax stabilization system (Optical Axis Automatic Stabilization System) that prevents annoying aberrations from occurring in this type of stereoscopic recordings. It also has dynamic sound capture based on Biphonic technology as well as a 3.5” touch LCD capable of displaying the 3D recording, without the need for glasses, to detect possible errors.

GZ-HM960

As for the GZ-HM960, it will be similar to other HD Everio models, although in this case it will have a practical 2D to 3D output converter function. This output can be viewed without glasses on its 3.5-inch LCD or by connecting an external 3D monitor. Its Bluetooth connectivity allows integration with other devices such as smartphones to synchronize video and photos with Google Maps, for example.

Both models will be marketed from March 2011 together with the Everio MediaBrowser software (Windows) for managing, editing and publishing content, even directly on social networks such as YouTube or Facebook.
