SADIBA (Southern African Digital Broadcasting Association) has published a comparison between the DVB-T and ISDB-T digital standards, based on independent information provided by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). Both for error correction and for data framing, modulation and DTT broadcasting, SADIBA opts for the European standard.

SADIBA (Southern African Digital Broadcasting Association) has recently published a comparison between the DVB-T and ISDB-T digital standards based on independent information provided by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). Both for the correction of errors and for the data framework, modulation and emission in DTT, SADIBA has drawn its own conclusions about which standard is capable of offering the greatest capacity and coverage with the least use of spectrum.

Starting from documents ITU-R BT.1306-4 (09/2009) and ITU-R BT.1877 (05/2010), referring to second generation DTT broadcasting standards, SADIBA compared both the ISDB-T and the DVB-T in its more and less robust and less configurations.

According to their conclusions, DVB-T compared to ISDB-T would require less transmission power to deliver more stable data, deploying over a 19% larger area without risk of self-interference.

Although in this last aspect, SADIBA recognizes that both standards are highly spectrally efficient, it would opt for DVB-T since it would offer a performance advantage over ISDB-T.

In its report, it also states that the second generation of DVB-T2 greatly surpasses both DVB-T and ISDB-T.
