Harris Corporation has just launched a new factory for low and medium power transmitters for digital television in Brazil. This new facility will allow Harris customers in the region to benefit from more competitive prices, reduce lead times and improve after-sales service.

The strong growth potential of the Brazilian broadcast market has been one of the reasons that weighed the most on Harris in deciding to invest in a local factory. In the face of the analog blackout in 2016, Brazilian stations are in the process of migrating to the ISDB-Tb digital format that has been adopted in the country. To date, only 120 broadcasters of the approximately 10,000 licenses that currently exist in Brazil have made the transition from analog to digital.

The Campinas factory is designed to scale and meet demand as it increases. The new plant will produce low and medium power transmitters, a segment in which Harris expects to account for 90 percent of the local market demand over the next five years in the medium term.

Harris has great weight in the ISDB-Tb systems market in Brazil, with 60 transmitters already installed throughout the region to date.
