The commitment of both companies to R&D applied to the world of stereoscopy has resulted in an ambitious objective: to bring the immersive 3D experience of major live events to viewers. The recent football match between the Portuguese national team and Cameroon was the second 3D event broadcast live, after the Estoril Tenid Open, following the alliance of both companies.

The Spanish company Kronomav, and the Portuguese company specialized in the transmission of live events, Medialuso, have signed an agreement for the joint exploitation of 3D events worldwide. The commitment of both companies to R&D applied to the world of stereoscopy has resulted in an ambitious objective: to bring the immersive 3D experience of major live events to viewers.

The football match between the Portuguese national team and Cameroon held on June 1 was the second 3D event broadcast live, after the Estoril Tenid Open, following the alliance of both companies. The match was held at the Portuguese sports complex of Covilha and ended with the home team winning by 3 goals to 1. The Portuguese cable operator Zon Tv Cabo sent the stereoscopic signal of the match live throughout Portugal.

A total of seven camera positions were implemented in the new 3D Mobile Unit, highlighting the fact that for the first time, one of the camera positions was covered by a wireless Steadycam that sent the stereoscopic signal via RF to production control.

The stereoscopic broadcast could be carried out thanks to the agreement reached by the companies Medialuso and Kronomav just a few months ago. The objective then was to have the first HD3D mobile unit operational by the spring of 2010. The new agreement aims to serve all the currently existing demand for 3D sports and cultural content, both live and non-live.

The geographical scope of the agreement between Kronomav and Medialuso will be developed worldwide in different phases within an ambitious commercial plan. To achieve this, more HD3D mobile units will be manufactured and technology for 3D events will continue to be developed, including the creation of new rig models.
