Grass Valley integrates the ClipStore option into its “HD production center” based on the possibilities of the K2 Summit and K2 Solo servers, working together with the Kayenne's internal ImageStore in a unique and functional integration.

Coinciding with a strong presence in the last year in numerous production companies and service companies, mainly in mobile units for the production of sporting events and live entertainment, the Kayenne mixer will now incorporate important improvements that will make it more powerful but just as simple in its management from your control panel.

One of the features that Grass Valley will include in this “HD production center” is the ClipStore option based on the widely proven capabilities of the K2 Summit and K2 Solo servers working in conjunction with the Kayenne's internal ImageStore and allowing operators to store and recover still images and video clips. In addition, it will mean savings as it is packaged in a single set.

Its capacity for 4 channels integrated into a 2RU server allows users to instantly access a complete library of SD or HD clips for animations, replays or any other type of video accessible directly from the ImageStore menu panel and E-systems. Mixer MEM/Cue.

The current six optional ImageStore channels (for stills) are not compromised when using the new K2-based ClipStore system for video. The ability to create folders and name clips has also been integrated into the ImageStore menu to make it easier to manage the large amount of content available.

Up to ten hours of clips

With the new ClipStore for Kayenne, clips are loaded immediately without the need for a cache, integrating the different ClipStore menus into the main menu with full access to the panel and the E-MEM system. The ClipStore can provide up to ten additional hours of HD clip storage compared to the sixty seconds offered by other RAM-based solutions.

The Kayenne ClipStore option with each K2 Summit (4 channels) or K2 Solo (2 channels) provides up to four video/key pairs (two in the case of the K2 Solo) and approximately ten hours of instant video/key/audio content.

Note, on the other hand, that in order to streamline workflows, the K2/ClipStore has been fully integrated natively with ImageStore so it is controlled transparently from the Kayenne's GUI touch screen and the main control panel. Additionally, any audio and video clips can be created on the K2 Summit or Solo, importing them directly into the ClipStore or uploading them directly from the Kayenne USB port.

According to Grass Valley, due to the high bandwidth of the Kayenne's channels, when not operating in video/key mode, they can record or play back left and right sources for stereoscopic productions.

The ability of the current ImageStore options to store and retrieve still images from internal RAM remains unchanged.

Other key features of the new K2/ClipStore system are the ability to record video/key/audio on all ClipStore channels; E-MEM Keyframe, Cue and macro commands handled directly from the ClipStore playback controls; use up to eight mixed inputs for playout and four channels of video and key, and eight outputs for video and key recording (in most cases only one channel records at a time so a single output pair could be used connected to four pairs of inputs using an amplified distribution (not included); and, finally, having 16 AES audio inputs/outputs in a four-channel ClipStore.
