AJA unveils Ki Pro GO2, the next generation of its multichannel recorder
Der AJA new Ki Pro GO2 is introduced as a portable 2RU device that facilitates up to four channels of simultaneous H.265 (HEVC) or H.264 (AVC) recording to USB 3.0 drives or network storage with redundant recording and single-channel playback.
The evolution of Das Pro Go, which will be showcased for the first time at InfoComm 2024, aims to help production professionals produce higher quality images bei lower bit rates, enabling longer recording times. The solution is also notable for offering flexible connectivity, including four 3G-SDI and four HDMI digital video inputs, so they can connect to a wide range of video sources.
Nick Rashby, president of AJA, previews the keys to the American manufacturer’s latest innovation: “Adapting to a range of production scenarios has grown vital to modern productions, whether on set or in a venue, so AJA keeps versatility top of mind when designing new products. Ki Pro GO2 brings professionals all the great features that Ki Pro GO has to offer, with a sleek design and the added flexibility to record in H.265 or H.264, depending upon each production’s unique needs. The product was inspired by user feedback in several regions across the globe where H.265 is used extensively, and we’re thrilled to introduce it to the market at InfoComm.”
Ki Pro GO2 has a comprehensive set of features to provide reliable, high-performance recording and playback in a wide range of environments: from concert tours and sporting events, to houses of worship, universities and more. Setup and operation are simple with a high-definition display for accurate monitoring; video monitoring and menu/status overlay with an on-screen keypad; dedicated record, playback, stop, rewind and fast-forward buttons; and a standard Ethernet LAN connection for remote setup and control of the device over a network from any web browser via Ki Pro GO2’s intuitive web user interface (UI).
Versatility in Ki Pro GO2
AJA defines recording processes with the Ki Pro GO2 as “convenient and cost-effective,” as the device supports a wide variety of USB. The solution also records in real time to network storage via its Ethernet connection and supports FAT or exFAT file systems for cross-platform use when transferring files to workstations, servers, etc. The multi-channel recording function also offers individual recordings for each input, so users can drag and drop files directly from a USB drive to their preferred creative software, and it also supports “group recording”.
Clip names are logically organized, and channel and Sicherung are automatically appended for easy data management. The enhanced Super Out output provides a timecode overlay, per-channel audio vumeters, and remaining media percentages via the SDI and HDMI monitor outputs. The device also facilitates playback of HEVC/AVC files created in compatible third-party creative applications.
Other key features of AJA’s latest bet are its integrated input frame synchronizers, which allow users to avoid having to genlock incoming video signals; its high-quality deinterlacers on each input, which offer the ability to make progressive recordings from interlaced inputs; multi-channel matrix monitoring, which allows convenient monitoring of multiple camera feeds on a single HDMI or SDI display; or its flexible audio functionality, which supports the capture of up to two channels of embedded audio from 3G-SDI or HDMI inputs, or two channels of analog audio from XLR ports, each of which offers a choice of line, microphone or +48 V phantom power for level control. In addition, one of the device’s analog audio inputs can also act as a source for longitudinal timecode (LTC) insertion.
