Die 8K-VVC-Lösung von Spin Digital erwacht mit AJA-Karten zum Leben
Spin Digital has built its Spin Enc Live video decoding and decoding solution, now with 8K VVC support, with AJA PCIe cards.
Der Spin Enc Live live production solution was initially launched as an 8K 60 fps encoder for live production with HEVC (H.265) support. Ahead of IBC 2023, Spin Digital will update the system, as well as its SDK, to add support for the VVC (H.266) codec. This update will allow users to choose whether to continue using HEVC, or jump to VVC to efficiently handle 8K HDR footage at 60 fps.
To enable signal input via SDI, Spin Enc Live integrates with the AJA Corvid 44 12G Und Kona 5 PCIe cards. Corvid 44 12G serves as the primary capture device for live production, while customers using desktop systems take advantage of Kona 5. Both cards provide crucial functionality in a compact form factor and quad 12G SDI connection, enabling the encoding solution to capture uncompressed signals for seamless video and audio processing.
Similarly, AJA Corvid 44 12G and KONA 5 offer flexibility to Spin Digital customers interested in less traditional high-resolution formats, such as panoramic images, which consist of stitching four 4K cameras together to generate one 16K by 2K image. Customers can introduce 2×2, 4×4 or 1×4 configurations, and can also capture 16 channels of audio within one SDI link and another 16 channels within another for high-end 3D audio formats such as the 22.2 format used in Japan.
Mauricio Alvarez Mesa, CEO of Spin Digital, notes that the company has “carefully selected” the components of the solution “including the AJA Corvid 44 12G and KONA 5 cards, which are ideal for live 8K applications and help us to capture 8K video at 60 fps with 10-bit HDR and the associated audio with very low delay and high reliability.” “With Corvid and KONA cards for input into our encoder for processing, we can easily capture frames without worrying about hidden or unexpected processes. The cards have also demonstrated excellent HDR signal input, whether dealing with PQ or HLG. We can effectively and reliably capture the metadata from the cards and seamlessly transmit this metadata through our encode,” remarks the company’s head.
