Ross Video acquires Primestream, a company specialized in multimedia asset management
Primestream, a developer of media asset capture, production, management and distribution solutions, has been acquired by Ross-Video.
The company, founded in 1999 and based in Miami, is trusted by customers in several vertical markets, including enterprise, digital media, sports and broadcast. These include Cisco, Microsoft Studios, Verizon Media, USC Annenberg School of Journalism, Nordic Entertainment Group, RSI (Radiotelevisione Svizzera), NFL Network, ABP News, Sun TV and others.
Primestream supports a wide range of workflows for live and file-based content ranging from HD to 4K and VR/360. This, Ross notes, allows users to “streamline editing”, metadata logging in the newsroom, ausspielen in the control room, and sharing, editing, reviewing and approving content before broadcasting it live. On the other hand, it also offers the opportunity to automate on-demand playout or publish content to a wide range of OTT platforms.
Primestream teams are now part of Ross
Primestream’s products will be incorporated into Ross, as will the teams led by President/CEO Claudio Lisman and EVP Namdev Lisman (including R&D and enterprise technical support). Over the coming months, Ross will look to combine its Streamline media asset management solution with Primestream’s products to ultimately create a fully converged production and graphics asset management platform.
Claudio Lisman is optimistic about this new phase within Ross: “We are extremely proud of what we have achieved here at Primestream, from both a solutions development and customer engagement perspective. We have built an exceptional team that’s very customer centric in approach. In joining Ross, we are joining a like-minded group that will help us reach new international markets, scale much more effectively and realize our aspirations.”
David Ross, CEO of Ross, is also excited about what Primestream can bring to the company’s future: “Ross is unique in the live production space, not just because of the depth of our product portfolio, but the emphasis we have consistently placed on solving customer problems, regardless of the technology platform in use. Acquisitions have played an important role in our success and this acquisition – our largest to date – will be no exception, I’m sure. The combination of Primestream MAM and media tools plus our world leading automation, graphics, and powerful newsroom computer system tools is extremely enticing and will provide customers with a truly world-class, end-to-end integrated Media Asset Management solution.”
