Riedel designs the new Nova facilities: MediorNet, Artist, Bolero…
Nova Broadcasting Group has relied on ريدل for the conceptualization and design of its new facilities in Sofia (Bulgaria), 17,000 square meters structured by the German company’s solutions.
The Nova new broadcast facilities support nine television channels, six of them live, as well as a state-of-the-art newsroom for the digital side of the media group. These are based on a MediorNet solution based on decentralized network devices and intelligent nodes that support the free arrangement of physical inputs and outputs. This approach has reduced the Nova cabling, flexibility and configuration time. Also, because MediorNet has integrated decentralized multiviewers, as well as additional processing functions such as up/down/cross conversion, SDR-HDR conversion, frame store/frame sync, embedders/de-embedders, test pattern generators, and sample rate converters, it minimizes the need for external processing equipment, improving efficiency throughout the production environment.
Nova TV completes its decentralized processing capabilities with 52 MicroN UHD devices (42 for production routing and 10 for playout) distributed across the network to support one main control room and three control rooms. In addition, the new facility also utilizes Riedel’s Artist-1024 node, Bolero wireless intercom and 1200 Series SmartPanels, which together enable versatile, crystal-clear communications that are vital to the Nova production of top-notch content.
Ivaylo Iliev, CTO at Nova, highlights the value of MediorNet and sets his sights on “Horizon”: “We consider this installation of Riedel technology a perfect solution for our signal routing, distribution, and processing requirements. Riedel’s MediorNet allowed us to implement a decentralized architecture that reduced costs during planning and implementation. And going forward, with the newly released MediorNet HorizoN, it provides us with a road map for migrating to IP-based architecture step by step, at our own pace. Should our format requirements or signal volume change over time, we will be able to scale the system and expand it as needed.”
Ismet Bozkurt, senior regional sales manager eastern Europe at Riedel Communications, believes Nova’s new infrastructure represents “a significant milestone for the industry in terms of dedicated broadcast facilities, and we are proud to support this award-winning project with our MediorNet solution.”
