The Riedel UHD Micron, central to the new decentralised routing system from MDR
German public broadcaster MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk) has revamped its fixed routing system with the ريدل high-density, modular Micron UHD signal interfaces, part of the MediorNet family.
ال 26 Riedel Micron UHD modules will provide MDR with decentralised signal routing of the broadcaster’s main TV studio in Leipzig: 20 Micron UHD modules in a standard configuration will handle signal routing and six will serve as multiviewers using the Micron UHD MultiViewer application.
The Micron UHDs allow MDR teams to easily configure the system to meet their exact needs, whether it’s routing video signals or providing multiviewer capabilities. To undertake the management and configuration of these and other functions, MDR relies on Broadcast Solutions’ hi (human interface) system.
ال Riedel Micron UHD interfaces, which bring more bandwidth, more I/O, higher resolutions and more processing power to the MediorNet platform than their predecessors, are able to respond to the growing demand in the market for decentralised routing of its operations, as Marco Kraft, head of sales for Riedel in Germany, remarks: “From our point of view, the deployment at MDR provides a perfect example of how our MicroN UHD can make the transition painless. Not only has it reduced system complexity and possible points of failure at MDR’s Leipzig studio, but it’s also increased operational efficiency and provided a solid foundation for future growth.”
