Rufus Hack appointed as new CEO of Hawk-Eye Innovations (Sony)
Hawk-Eye Innovations faces a new phase of growth with the signing of Rufus Hack as CEO. Hack will begin his new role at the سوني-owned company on September 1, 2021.
Rufus Hack, who currently serves as chief operating officer of the PGA European Tour and Ryder Cup, and general manager of PGA European Tour Productions, will succeed Adam Fry as CEO of عين الصقر. He will be directly reporting to Fry himself, as he will continue to be associated to the company as head of Sony’s sports businesses and VP of Sony Europe BV.
At PGA European Tour and Ryder Cup, Hack has overseen content, production, media sales, business development, strategy, finance and legal as chief operating officer. Among other innovations, he introduced the longest cable camera ever seen in the world of golf. Prior to joining the PGA European Tour, he was a partner at OC&C Strategy Consultants and worked with media and entertainment companies as well as private equity firms to drive strategic growth.
A turning point
Adam Fry welcomed Hack by highlighting the “pivotal” timing for the expansion of Hawk-Eye’s technology: “We’re delighted to be joined by Rufus for this important stage of our journey, bringing with him an exceptional wealth of experience, unwavering track record and invaluable insights to further meet the specific needs of Sports federations, leagues, media organisations and of course the fans.”
Hack himself has said he is “privileged” to “be chosen” to lead Hawk-Eye. In his own words, “Hawk-Eye is one of those rare companies to have truly revolutionised sport. The opportunity for further outsized growth is vast given a peerless reputation for innovation and operational excellence. I couldn’t be more excited to drive the next phase of growth for Hawk-Eye and help define Sony’s wider positioning in global sports.”
