Lawo NBC - Audio IP

Lawo IP-based solutions, including Diamond mixing consoles and Power Core engines, are shaping the ambitious audio infrastructure renovation undertaken by the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) of Namibia.

Founded as the South West African Broadcasting Corporation in 1979 and later renamed the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation in 1990, NBC has been a pillar of communication, education and unity in Namibia. With diverse programming in several languages, including three English-language television programs and eleven radio programs, NBC plays a pivotal role in shaping Namibia’s media landscape.

After extensive market research, NBC selected Lawo’s IP-based equipment for its “quality and affordability”. The installation, enriched with Lawo’s expertise and support, was conducted by the Lawo South African partner (B&I) Broadcast & Installation Engineering, which was responsible for system integration and project coordination.

Each of NBC’s 4 newly designed radio studios is now equipped with Lawo’s diamond console. In turn, each desk is equipped with Lawo’s Power Core, a scalable, high-density I/O, mixing, processing and routing engine that forms the backbone of a robust audio infrastructure. This combination offers a full range of features, including multiple high-density RAVENNA/AES67 and MADI interfaces, modular mic, line, AES3, GPIO and DANTE interfaces, and extensive DSP capabilities. Additionally, Lawo’s VisTool software provides real-time audio visualization and control, improving workflow efficiency and ease of operation for operators.
