Disneyland Paris uses Canon EOS Cine cameras to produce 4K videos of its new Ratatouille attraction

The videos have been made by the French director Sébastien Devaud, one of the pioneers in the use of SLR cameras for video recording.

Walt Disney Studios Park has used the EOS Cinema system to record several videos in 4K resolution for the new attraction Ratatouille: Rémy's Totally Crazy Adventure. To do this, he used a combination of five EOS C500 and EOS-1D C SLR cameras, along with a wide range of Canon lenses, including more than twenty EF-L series and EOS Cine lenses. The videos have been made by the French director Sébastien Devaud, one of the pioneers in the use of SLR cameras for video recording.

The attraction Ratatouille: Rémy’s Totally Crazy Adventure It is based on the most French Disney-Pixar animated film (released in 2007) and was inaugurated on July 10, 2014, after more than five years of construction. Taking into account the challenge, Disneyland Paris immediately decided to record the videos in 4K. Ultra High Definition offers a resolution of at least 8 megapixels, four times more than current High Definition (HD), offering total immersion in the action. In 2014, sales in the market are increasing significantly and, in May 2014, more Ultra High Definition (UHD) televisions were sold than in the entire year 2013.

After testing different brands and products, Disney finally selected the EOS Cine cameras to carry out a project that involved a very demanding recording environment with constant changes in light, 3D projection,... Thanks to its compact size, the EOS-1D C They rode on the ratmobiles (rat-shaped vehicles) of the attraction, with various “on-board” devices specially designed for this work.
